Frequently Asked Questions
-
Don't stress — no experience or prior fitness is required. Arrive a little early, introduce yourself to the coach and let them know it's your first session. We'll get you sorted and explain everything you need to know before you step on the mats.
-
Try Ronin for 7 days for just $7. During your trial, you can attend eligible classes, experience our coaching and facilities, and see whether Ronin is the right fit for you before committing to a membership.
-
Yes. All members and trial students must book into their class through the Ronin app before attending. We use MAAT to manage our timetable, class attendance, memberships and bookings, so please make sure you're booked in before arriving.
-
No. Ronin is primarily a No-Gi Jiu Jitsu gym, so for most classes you can train in comfortable activewear such as a rash guard or fitted shirt and shorts or leggings with no zips or pockets. We do offer Gi classes for kids, and we’ll let you know when a Gi is required. If you’re just starting out, there’s no need to buy anything before your first class..
Ronin gear is available, but you're welcome to train in your own gear.
-
Training gear, a water bottle and thongs or slides. A mouthguard is recommended for live training but isn't compulsory.
Please don't walk barefoot anywhere off the mats.
-
Good hygiene isn't optional in a grappling gym. You're training in close contact with other people, so everyone has a responsibility to keep the room clean and safe.
Please:
Arrive in clean training gear.
Keep fingernails and toenails short and clean.
Wear footwear whenever you're off the mats.
Cover any cuts or abrasions securely before training.
Shower as soon as practical after training.
Wash your training gear after every session.
Don't train if you're sick or have a contagious skin condition.
Let a coach know if you're unsure whether something is safe to train with.
