Beginner Jiu Jitsu in Thornton
You do not need any previous Brazilian Jiu Jitsu experience to start training at Ronin.
Beginner training focuses on fundamental movements, positions and concepts so new students can develop a strong technical foundation before progressing into more advanced training.
You will learn how to move safely, control positions, escape from underneath an opponent and begin applying submissions.
You also do not need to get fit before starting. Training can be adjusted to your level while your fitness develops over time.
Adult Brazilian Jiu Jitsu
Our adult classes are suitable for recreational students, beginners and competitors.
Some members train Brazilian Jiu Jitsu for fitness and enjoyment, while others want to develop high-level submission grappling skills or prepare for competition.
Ronin's coaching approach focuses on technical understanding and effective grappling rather than simply memorising isolated techniques.
Students are encouraged to understand why techniques work, how positions connect and how to make decisions during live training.
Kids Jiu Jitsu Thornton & Maitland
Ronin Thornton offers Brazilian Jiu Jitsu training for kids in a structured and supportive environment.
Jiu Jitsu helps children develop physical skills such as balance, coordination and body awareness while also encouraging confidence, resilience and problem solving.
Classes teach age-appropriate grappling skills and give students opportunities to practise those skills through controlled games and live training.
No previous martial arts experience is required.
